Maaji & Rasheed chose to do things differently — a quiet mountain elopement above Worcester, surrounded only by vast open space, summer heat, and the stillness of the mountains.
It was a proper Cape December day — bright, intense, and unapologetically hot. The kind of sun that doesn’t filter itself, especially at midday. But instead of taking away from the moment, it became part of it. Everything felt raw, direct, and real.
There was something very calm about the two of them from the start. No nerves that took over the day, no pressure to perform. Just a steady kind of presence — like they had already decided that what mattered most was simply being there together.
Their ceremony was simple and deeply personal. No audience, no distraction, just vows spoken in the open air with the mountains of Worcester as their backdrop. The wind came and went in small bursts, enough to remind you that nothing about the moment was staged.
Afterwards, we spent time moving slowly through the landscape. The midday light was harsh in the most honest way — strong shadows, bright highlights, and very little softness to hide behind. But that suited them. Nothing about this day needed to be overly polished.
What stood out most was how naturally they settled into each other as the day unfolded. No shift in personality for the camera, no “wedding version” of themselves. Just Maaji & Rasheed, exactly as they are.
Later in the afternoon, when the light finally began to ease, everything softened. The mountains took on a different tone, the heat lifted slightly, and the energy between them relaxed into something quieter and more reflective.
That final part of the day felt like a deep breath after something important.
