Meeke & Mauritz
There are some people who just seem to find their way back to each other.
The kind of love that feels soft and warm, familiar and steady. The kind that makes you think, if there really were a thousand lifetimes, I think these two would find each other in every single one.
That is Meeke & Maurits.
And somehow, Tulbagh felt like the perfect place for their wedding.
I have always had such a soft spot for Tulbagh weddings. There is something about the energy here that is difficult to put into words — the mountains, the wide-open spaces, the beautiful light and that feeling that everything slows down just a little. The energy and the vibes are simply on another level.
But on this particular day, it was the people who made it special.
Getting to photograph Meeke & Maurits was especially meaningful because they are my friends. There is something incredibly precious about being trusted to document such an important chapter in the lives of people you know and love — getting to see them in a completely different season of their relationship and preserve the little moments that make their love theirs.
Their day felt much like their relationship does: warm, genuine and effortless.
There was a softness surrounding them that never really left. In the way they looked at each other, the way they moved through the day together and the way they seemed to find one another again and again, even with everything happening around them.
And maybe that is what I loved most about photographing them.
In the middle of all the excitement, all the people, all the beautiful surroundings and everything that comes with a wedding day, there was always just them. Two people who seemed completely at home with each other.
It is the kind of love I hope everyone gets to experience at least once.
The kind that feels like coming home.
Meeke & Maurits, I feel incredibly lucky that I got to photograph this chapter of your story — not only as your photographer, but as your friend.
And if I had to choose a place for a love like yours to be celebrated, I think Tulbagh was a pretty perfect choice.
Some loves are beautiful.
Some loves are unforgettable.
And some feel like the kind of love that would find each other in every lifetime.
